こだわりポイント

At Obama Onsen in Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, you can find "champon," a dish that was brought over from Nagasaki along with the hot spring visitors. In the 100 years since it was introduced, it has evolved into a flavor loved by everyone and is now loved by locals as "Obama Chanpon." It features a light yet rich soup, seafood caught in the local seas, and thick, chewy noodles.

I think it's the perfect food that will be well received no matter where you take it.

小浜ちゃんぽん愛好会

This group was established with the idea of getting people from inside and outside the prefecture to try Obama Champon, spreading awareness of the benefits of Obama Onsen, and encouraging them to visit Obama Onsen. Obama Town was once a bustling tourist destination, but after the eruption of Mount Fugen, the town was gradually losing tourists and was in decline. Seeing this, the group thought, "I wonder if I can revitalize the area with Obama Champon, which I also love," and in 2007, the "First Obama Champon Map" was completed by Champon Bancho (Hayashida Masaaki). The year after the map was completed, in 2008, the "Obama Champon Lovers Club" was formed, and the town revitalization using Obama Champon began in earnest. Two restaurants that were originally rivals joined forces, taught each other recipes, and improved their skills, and they worked with passion to achieve something that would normally be impossible. They have actually planned and managed events, and it feels like they have gained more friends through their actions. They would like to continue to actively spread the word about Obama Champon throughout the country.

It features a light yet rich soup made from pork bones, chicken carcasses, and seafood, thick, chewy noodles, and plenty of ingredients.

We recommend topping it with a raw egg to enhance the richness and mellowness of the flavor.

If you come to Unzen City, try finding your favorite flavor with the Obama Champon Map in hand!

Obama is an old hot spring resort at the foot of Mount Unzen, and it is generally believed that Nagasaki Champon was introduced to Obama and Amakusa by sea during the Taisho era, where it evolved in its own unique way.
Nowadays, it is considered one of the "Three Great Champon of Japan," along with Nagasaki and Amakusa.

I would be happy if Obama Champon becomes known in various places.

We actively participate in local events and local gourmet festivals such as the B-1 Grand Prix, and work to increase our name recognition.
We feel that his popularity is spreading, with Chanpon Bancho, aka Hayashida, appearing on a certain famous variety show.
